Cloth or Buckskin?????????????
Which do you prefer???
Why??????????????? And since I asked the question........ BUCKSKIN ALLL THE WAY!!!!!!!!! Mine is nice soft smoked buckskin. suede side out.

I geuss there are many reasons you might pick one over the other. I know that Iroquois and Algonquin tribes along the East Coast use alot of cloth in their regalia as well as buckskin. I have a pair of buckskin leggins with a black and red broadcloth breechclout. I've seen wannabes adorned head to toe in nothing but buckskin with no beadwork or quillwork looking like some kind of generic mountain man or something lol. I like them both in my regalia.

yeah Hispeed I am trying to make the change to cloth but I love my buckskin it is cooler than cloth an its like part of me . But for mom I am going to make a set of cloth regalia to wear when I pow wow with her ..I just cant let go of the buckskin...:D

I look better in my chaps when I stomp the grounds up!! And it's not as hot as everybody thinks it is during the day.

Cloth cuz it's easily cleanable, easy to move in, easy to make lots of different outfits to go with your beadwork. Plus it's cooler and you have control on your materials. I dunno, maybe I'll go for buckskin one day when I'm old and responsible.

I like buckskin because of how it looks and feels. Never had cloth though. Only issue with buck, is it's weight :D

why only do one? i have both. cloth/ ribbonwork leggins during the day, and then i put on leather ones for night sessions when it gets cooler. who wants to wear the same thing every session anyway?!

how do you get a really bad stain out of buckskin anyway?? my little cuzz spilled grape juice all over my outfit and the front part of the dress is ruined...........................

Ohh grape juice?!? Not good. Umm I am hesitant to say anything. I still haven't figured ot how to get the grease stain out of my dress.

corn starch with a white cloth .. place the corn starch on the grease then put a white cloth on top put a heavy book or something that will hold it there it will draw the grease then take a chalk ball an clean what is left .
Grape Juice ....man oh man look in the cleaning section for tuff stuff ...try a very small area make sure to put a white towel on the back side so it wont run anymore . Do small sections at a time then condition it again . Grape Juice it the worst besides anything with red dye. Tuff Stuff is used on leather in cars an I have used it on my carpet an buckskin jacket. |
