In the word of the ones who passed on the ways, Chi Miigwetch. I am a Pipestone singer for going on 10 years. My cousins and friends (Brothers) grew up around some of the most traditional and honorable individual, Pipe Mustache, Bill Sutton, Bill Baker Sr., are just a few of the many mentionables. Our relatives stressed our culture to us from childhood on up.. Of course we all had to learn life lessons and they aren't always fun , but they leave impressions on us. We have always been told to conduct ourselves in respectful manners and we have learned why. We do sing for the people, not the money or the fame. We've been doing this and will continue to powwow and sing because of the love and for everyone to enjoy, but we have a blast jammin everytime. It always is the best to hear good feedback from the ones that matter, the People that come to powwow. Thanks for all the good words, we'll be round so if you see us and your toes start tappin, dance cuz thats what we sing for! |

i have a LOT of love for Pipestone, Citi High, Redstone Ojibway, War Scout, Eagle Flight, wild rose, southern express, Snake Island, YKB (aka: Kingbird Boyz), Rock Bottom, Stoney Creek, Maza Kute, Medicine Tail and FAR too many others to think of....but with this comment i think you contradict yourself because YKB told a certain someone and her family what you said about HER at a certain pow-wow. so Mr. Cain its different when its YOUR lady isn't it? |

chi meegwetch for the goot words. Bill Baker Sr was a goot neejeof ours, my parents and us kids. Nice to hear those elders have left good impressions on you all. Pipestone has a wonderful sound. Being Anishnabe Ikwe and Jingle Dress dancer, there is just something in the first few beats even before the lead singer breaks out that we can feel out there in the dance area. We know its going to be a good song even before the actual song begins. Thats Pipestone for me. Miiawe

The BlackWater Creek Group
Recorded live on Mount Mckay last weekend through Wakinyan Records. They sounded pretty tight, especially with three original singers missing out of the recording. I think they added a few new guys to their group. I hope that these guys stay together and not end up like a few other dead drums around Thunder bay. Keep it stong no-matter what people say about certain individuals life styles, as a group your awsome. Not sure when your Cd is coming, It's gonna end up in my collection.

Boozhoo, When talking about groups on here, you have to relize all the singers on that group ain't like that I appreciate everyday the creator gives me and to sing at pow-wows,
yeah, I used to have guys singing with us that expected to place all the time its hard not to at some pow-wows when you think your going to, but thats politics, it's the same for any other group out here that travels around, their is alot of groups and I mean young groups that sound very good that don't place, and yeah they complain in their own way, But that person had to point out YKB about being this way, YOU have to think before you say s>>> or reword what you say. Their alot of groups out their the same way. I'm Glad to be at a pow-wow singing with all my bros and cousins and having knew singers sing with us. I would like to say chii miigwech for all the listners of our music |
