All these drums are from the states.. No offence, but they are all good drum groups on they're way up, but from ontario, i'd have to root for REDSTONE OJIBWAY!! They have had a successful summer with they're competition powwows, and i think these fella's will be climbing up the ladder pretty quick! I don't think they travelled out there yet, but when they do i think they'll blow up hard!!!!! They sing mostly straight songs from what i hear, but they sing them wicked, and they sound wicked.....

I was surprised at how Blackbull Jr's was soundin. So they'd be my pick.
That guy Herb has got some smooth leads!! (& North Bear can rock tha round dance jamz!) Jermaine n them are gettin up there also...can't wait for ur CD's to come out. Well propz to whoever gets out to travel and get their sound heard and noticed. They're all good groups in their own way! |

Up & Coming
First of all, I'd like to say that there are so many drum groups out there trying to get known and I would like to say that they all deserve praise and recognition. I feel the same as "badazz", about Pipstone already being a drum to have come up. These boys have come along way. Young Kingbird on the other hand, has some work left to do. Outstanding young singers, that come from a long line of famous singers out of Red Lake Minnesota, have work to do on their attitudes and behaviors. To be a "made-drum", if you will, it isn't all about the singing. The way that you carry yourself and your drum, the way you treat other young singers, this is all a factor when trying to be well known. The post by ojibcommodbod, shows YKB's young, conceited, mentality. I've seen these boys alot as of late, fine young singers, that behave like a bunch of punks. They always feel they should win, and get upset when they don't. Like the old saying goes, you win some, you lose some. Words of wisdom.
As for Pipestone, they carry themselves in a different way, humble singers that were taught the right way to behave and to compete. I saw these boys for the first time in a long time when they visited my hometown last Halloween. They set up with 6 or 7 guys and blew the roof off the powwow. When money time came around, they were shut out, wrongfully, might I add. I approached them and told them it was wrong, I put some money on their drm and told them they sounded good. They said that it was alright, and they had fun singing there, as they came to do. I was impressed by the maturity of such a young,"up and coming" drum group. So singers take notes, it isnt always who wins that determines who the champion really is. Untill then you will remain up and coming. hoka |
