After spending almost 10 years among the Ojibway people from the region north of Lakes Huron and Superior, Frederick R. Burton published in 1909 a book collection of melodies transcribed to best of his abilities that he heard and were performed for him. This rare collection of melodies, most of which have remained silent for a century until now, is performed as literal transcriptions for piano and flute. All notes, except for the rare correction, are as Mr. Burton recorded them for future generations to hear.

“Portraying history accurately is important to me” James is quoted in a Detroit News article regarding his works. As a classically trained musician and composer and of Ojibway heritage from northern Ontario, James has set out to ensure that these 28 melodies will be again heard. Performed on a Yamaha grand piano and transverse flute by Mr. Taylor.

In many cultures dreams are regarded as powerful. Some may say that a dream can often reveal answers to problems from the waking world, that they are answers to our prayers revealed to us in a mysterious way. Other times it may be a wake-up call.

This was my dream....

Well,to my amazement,I could and I was also able to play it. I remember pouring over every inch of the instrument, touching every curve and feeling the cold steel of the strings beneath my fingers. The odd construction, simple and exotic at the same time.I remember the music that I was able to create on it as I began to play this wondrous discovery. Then I awoke"

The Rednoize Project featuring Redboy is a groundbreaking musical endeavour created by Anwaan Jiimis of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation. Combining traditional sounds and modern electronica, TRP creates sounds that cross the vast musical plains of what it truly means to be a Native artist.

Nativeradio.com described TRP as "...a spiritual listening pleasure for us. His music reminds me of sitting in front of a campfire and listening to the sounds around me. Keep an eye on this young man!"

Currently in rotation at nativeradio.com, songs such as "NDN" and "In the Spirit of Crazy Horse-The Freedom Mix" have been well received and the latter has been chosen as a finalist to appear on the upcoming Leonard Peltier Tribute CD.

Like nothing you've ever heard, The Rednoize Project will take you on an exciting, spiritual journey across NDN country.
