Appeals court closes Indian casino sales tax loophole
San Francisco, California (AP)
A federal appeals court has ordered a San Diego-area Indian tribe to pay more than $200,000 to the state after it had tried to circumvent playing sales taxes on a massive casino expansion project. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled invalid the business strategy by the Barona Band of Mission Indians to avoid the sale tax. |
