Inuit photographic naming project Bookmark and Share

Dear Editor,

The goal of this project is to identify the Inuit portrayed in some of the photographic collections held by Library and Archives Canada (LAC) in Ottawa.

The Naming Project, an ongoing initiative, is to give names to the people whose photos were taken and labeled only as “3 Eskimos visit our camp.” The Project also enables Nunavut youth to connect with their elders and to better understand their past, as one participant described it: “This is our family album.”
