Ex-tribal officials plead not guilty to misappropriating funds
Bangor, Maine (AP)
Two former officials of the Passamaquoddy Tribe have pleaded not guilty to charges of misappropriating more than $1.7 million in federal funds earmarked for tribal programs. Robert Newell, who served four years as governor at Indian Township, and James Parisi Jr., the tribe’s former business manager, appeared in U.S. District Court in Bangor to answer a 30-count indictment handed up last month. |
