Cantwell urges reform of General Mining Law of 1872

Spokane, Washington (AP) U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell wants to make dramatic changes in the nation’s mining regulations, saying an antiquated federal law hurts the environment. Cantwell, D-Wash., said she will introduce a bill to reform the General Mining Law of 1872, which governs mining on western public lands. It would be one of several proposed reform bills this session. |
