Arizona botanists meeting included plant walk
Hopi uses of plants shared at Montezuma Well Photos and Story by S.J. Wilson McGuireville, Arizona (NFIC) Hopi medicine woman Theodora Homewytewa faced over 30 members of the Arizona Botanists Meeting at the bottom of the slope leading up to the mouth of Montezuma Well – a culturally significant and spiritual site now under the care of the National Park Service. Though she isn’t familiar with the Latin names of the plants she uses in her practice, her knowledge of their uses has been handed down through generations of medicine people. |
