Tester nominates Indian war hero for presidential medal
Washington, D.C. (AP)
U.S. Sen. Jon Tester has nominated Dr. Joe Medicine Crow, author and tribal historian of the Crow Indian Tribe, for a Presidential Medal of Freedom. Medicine Crow, 94, served in the Army during World War II and became a chief in the Crow Tribe after the war. He is also the author of several books and the first Crow Indian to receive a master’s degree. He is an accomplished scholar, teacher, writer and historian. |
