Snowy 1758 battle involving Rangers, French, Indians remembered

Albany, New York (AP) It’s known as the “Battle on Snowshoes,” named for the footgear worn by nearly 500 combatants who clashed in the Adirondack wilderness 250 years ago this month. Fought during the French and Indian War, the 90-minute battle didn’t change the course of the conflict, and it was soon overshadowed by larger events in the decade-long struggle between England and France for control of North America. |
