Benny Shendo announces in 3rd District race
Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico (AP)
Benny Shendo Jr., a native of Jemez Pueblo and the state’s former Indian Affairs secretary, announced during late December that he is seeking the Democratic nomination in the 3rd Congressional District. Shendo, 43, joins a race that already includes Santa Fe developer Don Wiviott, Santa Fe County Commissioner Harry Montoya and Public Regulation Commissioner Ben Ray Lujan. Albuquerque attorney Jon Adams, who originally announced in the 1st District, said he intends to run in the 3rd. On the GOP side, a former aide to Sen. Pete Domenici, Marco Gonzales, has announced for the seat. |
