Group to renew efforts to free convicted killer Barry Beach
Billings, Montana (AP)
A New Jersey-based advocacy group will renew its legal effort to free a man who was convicted more than two decades ago of killing a Poplar teenager. Barry Beach, 45, is serving a 100-year sentence for the 1979 murder of 17-year-old Kimberly Nees, whose beaten body was found dumped in the Poplar River on the Fort Peck Reservation. Beach was convicted in 1984, and the verdict has been upheld on several appeals in both state and federal court. “We have not come across any information, in our view, which indicates that Barry had any involvement or knowledge of this crime,” said James McCloskey, executive director of Centurion Ministries. |
