Wuzzup, I'm Reno- An up and coming Music Producer. I have done some different projects from Cali to Florida and have sent some of my tracks to Music Artists around the globe including the UK and South America. I have my own studio that has taken a decade or so to make and am also doing work with Wu Tang Latino Needle Breakers Production Crew. I am trying to change my course in the Music Industry and wanted to make changes all around, I have a few artists I work with right now but the new path I want will require some Native Talent so anybody down with my cause can apply!

Dude,
The Native market is really tight. To get anywhere, you gotta prove your stuff first. It takes a long time to prove yourself to the people. You also need the right connections. I produce Native people from powwow drums to high profile artists. I have even had a few mixes for Native artists go to the Nammys. Didn't win but that's OK. It still nominated. It took me years to establish myself. In our ways you just can't say, "I'm out here, How about some business!" It doesn't work that way. You gotta prove yourself and hang around the right people. If that means helping a drum out, you do it. Even if it means you work for free for a while. (like a few years) Start now and you may get lucky in 8 or 10 years. I'll take a look at you myspace. Hopefully you got some good samples up there that are well mixed and have good quality. What kind of gear are you using for tracking and mixing? Who does your mastering? Hear the voice and feel the drum, It's our way! Ken TKMJ Productions Bear Den Records Native House Records

Thanks for the downsize. You don't have to give me a lecture or put me down just because I am not at the same level as you. From where I come from I'm already a hood star and a role model and I will succeed in whatever I do, making some beats or installing award winning car audio systems. I have put over 50G's in equipment so I have the right stuff, just wanted to find native artist who don't have someone near them with this kind of studio who want's help and would not mind making a few dollars. All I was asking was for artists who want to work together. I guess I was looking in the wrong place. Peace. |

I really don't use the computer much except for sound transfer to my Motif88 or MPC4000, maybe I use it more for Sound Forge. I do have both Mac & PC, Mac is running os x something and the PC (laptop) has Vista and the other (desktop) xp pro. I mainly use my Roland VS24cd for my recording. I have all the heavy duty road cases for most of my equipment because I do travel with some and my only plans to get is some software plug-ins and a great mic pre to use with my BLUE bottle. |

Look into a Grace 101 pre. It's a nice high/middle of the road item. Lots of gain, phantom, very clean and natural sounding. You can also dirty it up a bit if you want. It's a good solid all around pre that works with anything. Better then the Avalon M5 at less then half the cost. The 101 is no longer made so it can be gotten for a song. If you can't get one, the Grace replacement is better then the 101. You may want to try that one. I know a few raps and hops who use a 101 and hang a bottle from it. Make them happy! I'll talk gear anytime!
