Looking for a translation - Nakoda Lodge
Is anybody out there familiar with the Nakoda language?
My girls and I really like this song called "Wachi Bo" by Nakoda Lodge. We've heard it a bunch of times on Powwow Radio, and it would be nice to have just a general idea of what the song is about. I've searched online for lyrics, but couldn't find any. Here's a link to where you can hear this song. If anybody out there speaks Nakoda, even a general idea of the words to this song would be great! SoundClick MP3: Nakoda Lodge - Aboriginal Pow Wow Boy-Band

Basically, WACI is dance. PO is an emphatic ending.
Waci Wicasa - dancer (male) Waci Winyan - dancer (female) Hinanji-po - get up, stand up... emphatic ending (po) So it is basically, Dancers, get up and dance. Lakota, Nakota and Dakota are basically hte same words with the "L" "D" and "N". Lakota - Kola (friend) Dakota - Koda

Thanks BJJB! That song makes me want to get up and dance - really interesting fusion of traditional and modern. I guess they either won or were at least nominated for some awards for that recording...
