American Indians are owed $60 million
A federal agency said American Indians who have not claimed inheritances or interest from tribal land allotments are owed $60 million.
The government doesn't know where the beneficiaries are. The Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians is looking for more than 45,000 beneficiaries nationwide. An agency trust officer, John Roach, said the beneficiaries include about 4,000 Navajos. Roach said beneficiaries are eligible for disbursements ranging from a couple of pennies to more than $100,000. He said more than half of them are owed $100 or more. Soooooooooooo how do you know if you are a beneficiary? Does this include those who were adopted or sold as a baby?? hmmmmmmmmmmmm. 4000 Navajo's??? hmmmmmmmmm
