Needing 1000 signatures to assist in keeping the area around the site from becoming a dump site.

This doesn't surprise me, the destruction of the area has been on going for a long time, the building of St. Louis, mounds leveled for land fills from the 1800's and back in the '30's, and the building of Interstates 64 and 70 caused much destruction. Very shameful.

Went to a good powwow there back in 1995. Nice area, and very historical. I'm amazed that they would try and develop that land surrounding it, considering how much of that culture is so unknown, and how many mounds are more or less "undiscovered" yet. Do they need only resident's signatures on that petition?
