Arizona State Quarter Competition - Finalists
The U.S. Mint has produced five designs for Arizona's state quarter, and while Governor Janet Napolitano will have final say on the image to be minted, she's indicated she will leave it up to a vote of the people. But the official vote likely won't occur until April. Why wait? Here are the finalists (not including a few tweaks and refinements to be made over the next few months). Vote for the image you would like to see on Arizona's state quarter. That way when the real vote happens later this year, you'll know which is the favorite....Just be sure to vote before March 1, 2007. One of the designs being considered is shown below: Quarter 5 ![]() A Navajo Code Talker or Code Talkers in Marine combat uniform(s) surrounded by and using World War II field communication equipment. Below the Code Talker(s), the inscription “Nihizaad.” The Navajo word means because it has power, it is unbreakable or power of language referring to how it was used in World War II. Designs for the state quarter courtesy Office of Governor Janet Napolitano. For more information, go to: http://www.azcentral.com/ent/quarter...ters_main.html

I looked at the other four on the site - it looks like it's some version of the Grand Canyon or the Code Talkers. Personally, I like the Code Talkers because it is a way to honor them, but New Mexico and Utah share the Dine, whereas the Canyon is all Arizona. Anyway, I don't live there, so my vote won't count.

Historian,
Thanks for posting this info. there is another thread on the same topic. Here are the reults after I voted the third time. Quarter 5 56.65% 15822 Quarter 2 19.65% 5487 Quarter 1 13.82% 3860 Quarter 3 8.74% 2441 Quarter 4 1.14% 318 yep like your typical Nawlinian (translated as New Orleanean) I voted for the third time. Trobb, go ahead and vote, the only way to see the results is to vote. I also like it b/c it honors our greatest resource: our vets. That and I'm a little biased towards Marines. When you care enough to send the very best, send in the Marines. |
