Teachers?

Is there any one out there that knows of any scholarships for Native teachers, or just teachers in general, or maybe any thing like IHS scholarship?

Alaska has a program for Alaska native teachers. They reimburse the cost of your Bachelors of Ed degree after you've taught in a rural school district for 5 years. I believe you must get some kind of recommendation first. They are now offering better financing on a home if your a teacher in this state. My husband obtained his teaching degree this way and it worked out well for us, you just have to follow their rules and stipulations.

schooling Haudenosaunee/iroquois students

Haudenosaunee PROMISE
Members of the Syracuse University and Haudenosaunee communities announced in August the establishment of the Haudenosaunee Promise Scholarship Program, which will give qualified American Indian students the necessary financial resources to attend SU and earn bachelor’s degrees, beginning in fall 2006. The unique program will offer financial assistance equal to the cost of tuition, on-campus room and board, and mandatory University fees to all admitted first-year and transfer students who are certified current citizens of one of the six Haudenosaunee nations: Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora. “I am delighted that we will be building—and expanding—upon our historical relationship with the Haudenosaunee,” Chancellor Nancy Cantor says. “The benefits and opportunities to be created are truly exciting.”

You might also try the National Indian Education Association or the Department of Indian Education.
Here are some links:

www.oiep.bia.edu

also, are you willing to work on a rez? I put in a query a few years ago and a principal from a Dineh rez told me that Indian teachers with credentials are like gold on the rez.
