Smile Introducing the opening of the White Hawk Wolf Sanctuary & Crazy Horse Tepee Retreat

Introducing the opening of the White Hawk Wolf Sanctuary & Crazy Horse Tepee Retreat, Cheyenne River Reservation, South Dakota.

White Hawk Wolf Sanctuary is excited to announce we are relocating to the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota. The sanctuary will provide permanent rescue for wolves and wolf-dogs offering “a safe place to call home”. The Sanctaury will be a non-profit 501 c3.

As many of you are aware, the need for additional sanctuaries is critical today. There are thousands of wolves and wolf-dogs that are euthanized each year due to the lack of available space in the existing sanctuaries. Our goal is to help make a difference in the lives of many homeless wolves and wolf-dogs that otherwise would be destroyed. These beautiful and magnificent animals need your help!

Help the Wolves ~ Urgent Need
The wolves must be relocated from our current location effective immediately. We are in urgent need of donations to acquire fencing to build enclosures at the new location and transportation for the wolves (i.e. rental cargo vans, fuel expenses).

Please donate as much or as little as you possibly can, any amount is always appreciated even if it is just $10.00. Every dollar contributed makes a difference in helping the wolves. Timing is critical; this relocation must take place immediately.

For your convenience we are able to offer paypal as a donation option on the website. It is easy to use and there is no need to join or go thru any lengthy sign up, all you need is our email address, it’s that simple and takes just a few brief moments of your time! All donations go towards helping the wolf sanctuary.

For additional information about the White Hawk Wolf Sanctuary, please visit us at www.whitehawkwolf.org. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments, you can give me a howl at wolflady@whitehawkwolf.org

The Sactuary will be opening first, then the camp. Both will be open for visitors by the end of spring.

White Hawk Wolf Sanctuary & The Crazy Horse Tepee Retreat
We are combining our goals and efforts starting the sanctuary in conjunction with the retreat. The partnership is with a direct descendent of Crazy Horse and resident tribal member located at Cheyenne River.

The White Hawk Wolf Sanctuary will be a non-profit organization and separate entity from the retreat. The goal is to rescue abandoned, abused and mistreated wolves and wolf-dogs. This will also provide visitors an opportunity for an up close and personal experience to visit with the resident wolves. Education programs will also be offered focusing on the misconceptions about wolves, the wolves’ role as a keystone species and how they provide an ecological balance on mother earth, current status of wolves in North America, stories and legends from different nations about wolves and the role of the wolf within Native American cultures. Also educating people about the challenges and consequences of having wolves and wolf-dogs as “pets” and to encourage people not to breed or obtain them.

The Crazy Horse Tepee Retreat will be an all inclusive retreat offering 3-4 day cultural camps. Guests will be able to stay in custom tepee lodges, healthy and native traditional foods will be provided, some of the day activities will include horse back riding, hiking, wildlife viewing including resident Buffalo & Wild Mustang herds, presentations regarding the true history of the Lakota Nation and their surrounding traditional lands, story tellers, singers, dancers and drumming and guest speakers. Each day will be a fulfilled and enjoyable journey, ending with the wolves howling you to sleep each evening under the beautiful star filled skies of South Dakota.

The goal is to provide and educate visitors about the true history of Wolves and Native people, culture and present day challenges in Indian Country. The ultimate objective is to bring potential economic development to the people on the reservation in bringing eco-tourism to Cheyenne River.

I have dedicated the past sixteen years to educating people about wolves and also very involved with on-going issues in Indian Country. This opportunity to combine these two important issues is a lifetime dream come true.

I hope in the future to be able to show each and every one of you around our new wolf sanctuary.

Both the wolves and I appreciate all your support and contributions in making this happen!
