Tribe gets ready to host 8,000 for Canoe Journey
Monday, May 2, 2005

The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe of Washington is preparing to welcome 8,000 people who are expected to attend the closing celebration of the 2005 Canoe Journey.

The tribe is hosting this year's journey, in which 80 canoes representing tribes in the Pacific Northwest and Canada will paddle their way to Washington starting in July.

The canoes will end up at the tribe's Tse-whit-zen village on the Port Angeles waterfront. From there, the festivities will move to the Elwha reservation for the August 1-6 closing celebration.
