You know I'm all for investigating FBI misconduct and uninvestigated, unsolved murders from that era as well as tribal government corruption, but I'm not at all in favor of setting a guilty man free.
Read in depth accounts. Talk to people who were there. Then focus on the real political prisoners.

I think he's doin just fine where he's at.
When you say POLITICAL PRISONER. I think of Nelson Mandela & Diana Roth, people who fought great societal injustices in their quest to end Apartheid in South Africa. They we're fighting for a larger cause, with little or no regard for themselves or their families. Nelson M. being imprisoned for many years, and Diana Roth, an anti-apartheid, white, female author, was imprisoned numerous times for speaking out, and eventually, was assassinated for her writings and public speaking. What has Peltier done other than to try to advance the cause of his own selfish movement, which benefits a very select few? If you REALLY knew anything about him. You'd know that the shootings we're only the tip of the iceberg for Peltier. His rap sheet from the Minneapolis area alone was enough to see to his conviction and eventual imprisonment!!! He had several outstanding warrants and felony convictions against him, even BEFORE the whole "A-hole In Moccasins" Movement got started up!! If you all feel SO strongly about him as a political prisoner....why don't you apply that same level of zeal to getting OTHER Natives out of prison, there's literally thousands of them there that sure could use your help, your dollars, your time, and your concern. Many are truly innocent, just the random victims of bad timing, bad representation in the courts, corrupt court systems, corrupt judges, racially motivated backlashings, or were simply defending their own, family, property or belongings and it went the wrong way and someone ended up hurt or dead, and they went to prison for it. Yet, Peltier gets to sell paintings on ebay, get an almost unlimited number of visitors per year, visits with lawyers, writers, photographers, basically live a life that any inmate under the same charges as him, would never get to have. The guys had it entirely TOO EASY in prison. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, wasn't prison created to take away and remove an individuals freedom to interact with society at large? For retribution for actions caused by their own actions. A form of punishment for their wrongdoings. My question now is. What about all the REALLY INNOCENT indians that are sitting somewhere in a prison cell? What have you done to make their lives easier? Their families lives easier? Peltiers family is taken care of, I'm sure. His co-horts and fellow "activists" have created nice lives as artists, actors, politicians, singers, songwriters, etc........do they think about Peltier when they're signing their umpteenth honorarium check for thousands of dollars? Do they think of the REAL POLITICAL PRISONERS in jail or prison and wonder how their families are doing? Or what they could potentially do, out of the kindness of their hearts...rather than for the almighty buck? ...I seriously don't think so. Peltiers imprisonment is nothing more than a money making machine for AIM and a VERY select few on the take. That said.........where do I buy my "Free Peltier" bumper sticker, t-shirt, sweatshirt, mug, screen saver, biographical book, painting by Peltier, commemorative/souvenir/replica prison spoon Peltier used for the first 180 days of "incarceration". Honestly people. Your proposed march on Washington could probably do more to advance something WORTHWHILE. Why not march against the BIA cuts on the federal agenda, or the proposed tax cuts that will basically gut public programs, clearly designed for people LIKE indian people....the poor, low income, or rural. You'd do more good for ALL indian people then, as opposed to freeing one man who has no answers to the growing problems facing indian country today.

Cant let emotions control action... we end up fighting for the wrong cause.

youd think by now they would have been able to PROVE his innocence... BUT... Of course they wont cause ya know what? HE IS in the wrong... The so called activists... need to give up on that cause and go for the better causes.. Like the abuse of children, the Poverty of NdNs On Homelands... The Abuse of the environment for the financial gains of the ones that abuses our Native people and continue to abuse us along with our homelands... Arent those worth having a march over & petitions signed, why waste time on a guy that truly doesnt care for anyone but himself. A good question was put out... exactly what has Peltier done to recieve this kind of attention, what has he done for Native people? What has he done for HIS OWN people from his own tribe? Does he write about those or does he just write the Woe Is Me BS while throwing that racial card around? he has already made gains off his crime...manipulated the system to his favor its just too bad the REAL innocent still get denied. Ever hear the Saying... The truth shall set you free?? just like those other activists... yes it took years but truth always prevails, hence why so many, due in part to Scientific advancement, are being set free, and Hmmm Peltier isnt one of them, get a clue. |

How are you? Accomplishments are hard to come by especially when working for the white folk, right? Of course the cyberworld is a bunch of thin air and as such we can rant, rave and pillage just like the Indians of yore. |

So, all Indian people are supposed to get along and have the same opinions? Obviously, you've never attended a tribal council meeting.
