And here I thought this thread was about women wearing sweats. I was thinking what's the big deal? lol..
Yeah like Ki said.... nothing new with this concept. Women of my nation have used the sweatlodge to pray for a long, long time. Also nothing new that some women have sweatlodges at their homes, like me. People come to my home to sweat and pray all the time, but men and women sweat seperate and it's also run our way, but I won't go into any depth about it. But yeah, women praying to our Creator in the sweatlodge is nothing new, we've been doing this for a long time. |

a new guy moved in downstairs. being friendly I said 'hey' when I passed him outside last week. mistake. he's been banging on my door every night. moved here from Humboldt--for those of you that don't know No. Cali that is the Emerald Triangle--Greenbud for Everyone!!! He invited me down to 'share a bowl', asked if I was NDN and proceeded to tell me that he and is friends had 'sweats' all the time. Coed, get naked, dance around the fire...sheesh. :Eyebrows I've been trying to avoid him ever since. What a loon. I have no desire to go to a coed sweat. I know some tribes allow them; but I would find it a big distraction to have men in there with me. Not that we go 'naked' or anything; we always wear modest cotton shifts. But, I mean, after rolling around in the dirt, trying to find a pocket of air to breathe, I come up looking like a mudpie. Who the H wants a guy seeing THAT! Scary thought! :Scared

I know about sweat lodges, men do theirs, and womens are seperate, but the 2 were never mixed as far as I had learned. Was just trying to see if there was something that maybe I hadn't learned or if this was just another new "tradition". Apparently the guy is suppose to know what he is doing and talking about that she going to do this with, but just cause I can talk to you about flying an airplane don't make me a person you'd wanna fly with.

Anyone has the right to question a so-called traditional teacher - they should be willing to answer where they've gotten their teachings, how long they have been following this way, who is their teacher and how did they earn the right to do what they do.
