Grandfather,35 years later, I still miss you

I just realized it's 35 years ago that my Grandfather left this world. He was called Tall Bear, but I don't think that's the name he was born with. When my cousins and I would pester him about his name, he would tell us his name was Grandfather. His adult children turned their backs on their heritage, but some of his grandchildren embraced both him and their heritage. I was a long time forgiving my father for that. My Grandfather had a wonderful place on a lake and a couple of my cousins and I would spend summers there. He used to call me Storm Child, because I have always had a facination withh thunderstorms. I would make him crazy wanting to be out in the middle of them. I would compromise by sitting in the swing on the screened porch. He would teach us, without us realizing we were being taught-in the thngs he did and the stories he would tell us. One of my cousins, Joe, lived with him full time and I so envied him that. I know he is still with me, because we speak and walk together in my dreams sometimes, but it isn't the same as having him to hug. He taught me to see and it's only as I get older that I truly appreciate his gifts that he gave me. I hope he knows.
