Rembering Derek

The first anniversary of my husbands death just went by and it's alittle bit easier for me and the kids. We just miss him.Our three children are beautiful reminders of their dad. My youngest son is autistic and healing. It's probably hardest on him, as he cannot fully understand where his daddy is and why he doesn't come home. Our daughter's are beautiful. He just loved their black hair and would brush it sometimes at night before bed time and just talk to them about their day. My husband served his country for 20 yrs and was a vet. We will always love you Derek and miss your smile, sense of humor and funny way of making us laugh! Your wife, Kathy

I'm sorry for your loss. It's sad that most of native americans that serve our country don't get recognized for their sacrafices. I hope your family will heal and have happiness soon. I'm proud of you for being so strong. I will pray to mother nature for your speedy healing for you and your children. Ravenfox :)

Thank you for sharing with us. I wish you more healing and pray that your family can bring each other the comfort they need. We are all blessed to find love once in our lifetimes. And your children will care that forever.

so sorry for your loss...just keep thinking it will get better...your kids and yourself will never truly get over the loss but it does get better..i been there but i loss my dad back in 96 due to cancer and then year later my grandma passed away and every year things get better we mourned for 5 years...someone was always trying to be strong for th e other..but our lives are getting better every passing moment...and so will yours and your children...just think psoitively and pray... prayer always helps...and dont be afraid to cry over a person shoulder ...one of my friends loss her dad as well and now shes just dealing with it...she lost him last winter semester and she leans on me to talk about stuff and its okay im just glad shes getting it all out....so its good thing to have your family to talk to someone ..it doesn thave to be a psychiatrist..it can be someone that you feel confortable with..that person just needs a listening ear..
