Unhappy Joan Grant Phoenix

Joan Phoenix, of the Barona reservation, Lakeside, CA, passed away at her home yesterday, July 12th. A full-blooded member of the Otoe-Missouria tribe of Red Rock, OKLA, she was a great role model for all women. Please join me in mourning her loss and extending condolences to her family. Aunt Joan was very instrumental in the education component for the Barona Tribe, where she worked tirelessly to help the tribal children. She was a great wife, mom, grandmother, and aunt to all who knew her. She fed and welcomed many in her home over the years. Rest well, Auntie.

Was Joan married to Boxie? Is her daughter Beth?

In anycase, I send my condolences to the family.

Yes she was Mrs. Boxie Phoenix, and Beth is one of their daughters.

My grandmother touched many lives throughout her life. I am honored to say I knew her and am related to her and strive everyday to live like she did....and she was one of the keenest poker players ever...play on Barona Babes!!!

I am very sorry to hear that Beth's mother had passed. I know Beth, lost contact with her. Offering prayers for her and family. God bless you.
