NDNKIDZ (V.L):

So many friends share this pain with you and your family. The teachings of the cycle of life include all the ages of our people. Let me, as someone who cares about you, share a belief of the Iroquois people. This comforting message was given to me by a Seneca leader during my time of mourning . . .

__

"At this time, we gather to help hold you and your family up. The pain of grief and loss has taken the smile away from you and all your family members and put it on a long journey. In this time of loss know that many prayers are being said to help you.

With great respect, I advise you to mourn and grieve as full and complete as you can. During the shock and numbness of your loss, I want to gently remind you that mourning has a validating and healthy purpose. Know that unresolved grieving can bring on so much more suffering.

After the burial is done, your time for mourning is your choice and I will respect you in your expression and heaviness. So at this time, your loss is in my prayers.

I am telling you this because I care."

This helped me when my Great-Grandma passed away.
My uncle told me that it wasn't really death, as in the extinguishing of exsistence, it was really more of a changing of worlds. Matter can neither be created nor destroyed, it just changes its form. And the soul, the real part of a person, is like that matter. It always exsists. He said that JJ was still alive, that she had merely moved from this physical world to the world of spirit and energy, and that she would still always be here with us. We just couldn't see her.

My deepest sympathies are with you and yours.

im sorry to hear that...yay in 96 of sept 16 my dad passed away from cancer too...he was 47 and he had a rare genetic cancer so i know how ya feel...its gonna be hard fer while but eventually things get better so think positive..and talkin to a therapist or group therapy does help so i would try that....some ppl think that just because one goes to therapy that their something really wrong with them...and that aint necessarily so because therapy in yar case can be soothing in helping with grief...but i hope things get better keep yar chin up-becca

NDNKIDZ -- just heard about your mom's passing. I know how you feel - lost my mom 23 years ago to cancer. Take solice in the fact that she is no longer suffering and is well again. Should you need to talk - you know where I am.

You and yours are in our prayers. Talk to you soon.

I just found your memorial thread. and needed to send you my sympathy.

My mom (47) and dad (46) died of cancer five and seven years ago respectively. It is a very hard thing to deal with, but here's what I know...

I was lucky to have ever had them at all. Despite all their flaws they were perfect for me.

Your mom lives on. She touched my heart today.
