In my community, we never used acronyms. One of my neighbours was a guy named Peta. yeah, his name in ink was Peter, but Anishinaabe didn't get used to those English names too well.

Another example is Sophia. Anishinaabeg said Sup-pie-yeah.

They called me Josep. No, it's not mispelled. That's the way my friends and relatives pronounced my name.

We is a backward nation, alright. But.......... I'm proud to be one.
