-----George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed,
which she could see from the Bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and he said no. Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available. George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again. "Hello I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now cause I've just shot them all." Then he hung up. Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips residence. Of course, the police caught the burglars red-handed One of the Policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!" (True Story) I LOVE IT...

this isn't exactly on topic, but this reminds me of a joke I heard a couple of years. It was in the wake of something that happened with a police department in NM or AZ or something like that. Anyway, a helicopter had been used to make a donut run (really).
One of the local radio stations kept prank calling the department and making up things like he appreciates the police depatment's patronage, but he hates it when he turns on the HOT DONUT sign and the helicopter's turbulence knocks over his booth out side. In another one the guy said that he had an emergency and if the cops came over right away he would give them some donuts. There were at least 5 of these recordings and my side was hurting from laughing. On one of the calls, you could hear the cop who answered the phone laughing - but trying to cover it up. It was funny. Does anybody know the recordings I'm talking about? I got them in an email which has long since been deleted. |

Hi tsalagigirl,
I work with the police and fire dept.'s here as a liesen and I've heard wilder calls than those over the years. Some get wild because the 911 operators are new or just plain stupid in some cases . My favorites are the stupid crook stories my cops tell.
