Position opening: American Indian Center St. Cloud State University

Position Available: Associate Director, American Indian Center,12 month full-time probationary (Vacancy Number 793485)

Salary: MSUAASF Range C, $36,636 - $61,608.

Date of Appointment: August 1, 2008 or negotiated date

Responsibilities: Beginning salary is dependent upon academic qualifications and experience and generally will not exceed the midpoint of the range. Provide daily management operations of the American Indian Center and provides leadership in the design and implementation of integrated recruitment, retention programs and activities, and various academic, educational, social and cultural programs. Provides individual advisement and advocacy to American Indian students. Serves as the project manager of the American Indian Studies Summer Institute, college-visitation program, and various admission programs. Provides leadership in the development and management of various department publications, resources, including the department website. Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, supervision, and evaluation of department graduate assistants. Oversees the assessment, evaluation and recommendation of department technology needs.

Qualifications and Experience:
Required: Master’s degree required in Counseling, Student Personnel or Higher Education Administration. Minimum of three years experience in student affairs, counseling or higher education setting. Must be committed to serving a student population with diverse cultural backgrounds, academic interests and goals. Preferred: Knowledge and experience in the overall operation, management, training related to student support service programs, with a blend of experience in recruitment and retention. Demonstrated knowledge, skill and experience in working with students of color, underserved and underrepresented student populations. Evidence of commitment to cultural and ethnic diversity. Evidence of effective supervision skills. Ability to work with faculty, staff and students. Ability to resolve complex situations while maintaining a supportive service atmosphere that is effective, flexible, and fiscally sound.
