Tribal Administrator
General Statement of Duties:
The Tribal Administrator is an executive management position responsible for overseeing the management of the Tribe's Administration, Health Services, Education, Cultural Affairs, Public Safety, Community Services, Minerals, Construction, Community Housing and Finance. The Tribal Administrator is hired by and reports to the Alabama-Coushatta Tribal Council.
Job Responsibilities:
- Will supervise the Department Directors of those identified programs in the day-to-day management of their areas.
- Will conduct monthly staff meetings to exchange information, coordinate planning, generate ideas, and develop long term and short term plans to meet the growing needs of the tribal organizations.
- Will receive monthly reports directions and verbally report status of programs to the Tribal Council at the designated meeting.
- Responsible to ensure the Tribe develops, implements, and maintains all control systems requird by law or regulation, and those prudent to the efficient operation of the Alabama Coushatta Tribe of Texas.
- Responsible to review all annual budgets and work closely with the Finance Officer in the preparation of the Indirect Cost Budget and Tribal Budget
- Responsible for direct involvement in specific long-term strategic planning as directed by the Tribal Council.
- Work with the Department Directors and management to provide policy development assistance to the Tribal Council.
- Assist the Tribal Council Secretary and Administrative Assistant with developing relevant Tribal Council meeting agenda items.
- Responsible for the implementation of relevant Tribal Council directives in cooperation with all staff meetings with designated program staff to facilitate teamwork, problem identification, solutions, and to insure clear communications with all staff employees within all program areas.
- Participates with appropriate agencies in planning for new construction of Tribal facilities as necessary. Coordinates administrative support activities with governmental agencies for new construction programs.
- Required to comprehend federal and state legislation as it effects the tribal organization and its programs.
- Identify and coordinate training, travel needs and plans for staff to assure effective and efficient performance in provision of services to the Alabama-Coushatta tribal membership and to promote professional development of employees.
- Provides liasion with outside groups, e.g. other Indian Tribes, Tribal members, federal agencies, etc. regarding procurement and management of resource in delivery of Tribal services.
- Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
- Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.
- Must attend all training provided by the employer.
- Must attend all meetings required by the employer.
- Must adhere to all established rules, regulations, procedures and policies of the Alabama Coushatta Tribe of Texas.
- All other duties assigned as may be relevant to the position.
Special Qualifications.
- A four year degree in an administrative discipline such as business, public, education, organizational management or financial field is required. A Master's Degree in a same discipline is preferred. (A copy of post secondary transcripts is required of all applicants.)
- A minimum of three years working experience working in management of administrative supervison of complex programs.
- Proven ability to understand, prepare and manage annual budgets.
- Exceptional communication skills with proven ability to communicate fiscal and business procedure.
- Exceptional supervisory skills with proven ability to communicate fiscal and business procedure.
- Exceptional supervisory skills with experience in organizing, directing, and training staff.
- Experience with tribal organizations and other governmental organizations is preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable of Solomon financial accounting software.
- Proven ability to facilitate meetins based on teamwork concept.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, or ability to obtain one.
- Proven experience in policy analysis and development.

Full-time Position
Minimum pay is $45,000 annually and Maximum pay is $65,000 annually
