Do jinglerz need 365 jingles on their dresses?

Not neccesarily lilindnchick.. a lot of jinglers I know dont have exactly 365, n Im in Ojibway country :)
But someone else might have another opinion.
Usually though the jinglers I know have bout 300-500 jingles on their dresses.

Hmmmmm, I have heard 366. One for each day of the year and then one for yourself, but yeah, I dont count exactly. I use whatever my dresses need.

hehe well my newest dress only has 3 rows haha....well four......but its all good.....now way over 300 is gonna fit on 3 rows....lol.......so yeah whatever ur dress needs

365...one for each day of the year...AND each good deed that was done to EARN that cone. And has anyone explained to you what needs to be done to become a jingle dress dancer to begin with? There is a ceremony that must be done before accepting such an important and sacred duty...a jingle dress dancer must know and realize certain things before accepting such duty. It ain't just the purty noises they make or how "cute" you think you may look in one, ya know...
Hate to say it, but all the competition and "what a little doll!" stuff has taken too many people away from what the whole thing was meant to be to begin with.
Sad.

yeah thats what ive been told... 365... but not little kids eh they have those little silver thingies...like my grand daughter.. and you get your colours from an elder...

Not NECESSARY to have 365 cones and that one extra.

Its whatever your dress takes.
It is interesting to see the different things that are being said. March we had our jingle dress doings happening here and danced with the beautiful women from whitefish bay. :) was fun to saasaakwe with the older women..*L*

There was a thread awhile back that dispelled the "URBAN LEGEND" of the 365 cones needed for a dress.

In this thread all the Anishinabe agreed this was NOT true.

But... it does make a good story if you are telling it to an audience that doesn't know any better!
