Choker
I'm finishing up the last of my beadwork for my new jingle dress and have everything done except my choker. I was thinking of doing a more traditional hairpipe bone with fire polish beads instead of a beaded choker with a drop. What do you girls think? I'm not a competition dancer.

In my mind, bone chokers look quite traditional and old-school. Might work with an old-style jingle dress but could look a little incongruous with a contemporary style outfit. However, you could take the same concept and make a choker entirely out of crystal fire polish beads, constructed the same way as you would a bone choker but without the bone. Gosh, I just might go try that and see how it looks.....!

I love it! Will have to do this even if I make a beaded one to have as another option. Hehe.....I gotta get back to work. Thanks for the idea Kim and I'll see ya in a few weeks. Hope the health issues are resolved and you're back on your feet soon.

I love making bone chokers, i would say to do your best to make it look modern as well., as for the idea, i may just do that as well, i have fire polished beads in my kit for jewelry making, and needed something to do with them.
personally i love the hair bone chokers, and enjoy making them when i can ^_^ and i'd love to see the pictures when you finish |

another choker idea is the quill choker. I usually strengthen it with clearn hardening nail polish. And add size 11 sead beads for it....or use bugle beads too. either going horizontal or Vertical. I love bone chokers too...with the aged bone or buff horn (black) with the fire polished. ;-)

I love making chokers for all sizes and styles, the more I make them the more ideas come to me!
Take a boo at my album there is a choker that I made out of the bones from a rib cage of a young black bear. No store bought bones at all on that one! I used red chec white hearts and sterling silver as beads. Another one that I did not take pics of was one that is even closer to a persons heart, the wing bones from a hawk, cut and sized and polished, then soaked in black tea and coffee to get a rich brown effect. The one that went to Bennigton Vermont last year was a new idea, the bones from the paws of a wolf, the bones in our hand are about the same size and thinner so they are great as hair bones. So now I am in the process of soaking bones again from wolf and bear to make more! As for beads, glass and silver only on these!

Thanks for posting the pic cherokeemom. Now others can see what words often don't describe very well.
I recently found some spacer bars that were a row of rhinestones. I bet that would look really nice with strands of crystal beads. Maybe my next experiment.... |
