~the Cones~
Tell us about your cones. (not your doodooshak) but the cones you use for your dress. lol.
I love the Redwoods. I have not seen Copenhagens in forever. I know if you open them up a bit more wider the sound is louder. What do you all do? I keep mine about medium open. I've seen some fatter ones hanging on dresses. My sister likes to open them up kind of fat for more louder sound. lol. Do any of you use a spray to keep them from tarnishing longer than usual? Share your secrets! lmao

geez!! my auntie has a bag of copenhagen lids!! back from when my cousin used to jingle and my auntie would tell our older cousins and uncles who chewed to save the lids n give them to her!! i guess they STILL do.. that was back in the day when we had to wash them n clean the chew off.. n they had 2 be cut n turned by hand with a needles nose pliers!! that would explain why my cousin only had 2 dresses! ha ha... now we can go to "singing horse trading post" and buy them cut in rolled!! but anywho... we liked to keep them medium open with short tabs and as close together as possible (with out over lapping) looks clean :D:D as for rusting... seems like we added "turtle wax" (for cars) to the water we washed them in... not 100% sure but i'll ask my auntie my 2 cents anpetu waste yuha!- have a good day

I've seen painted cones to match the dress.
I didn't much care for that, it also took away some of the sound of the cones.

I've used mcPhersons and Missouri Rivers. I think I'm going to use gold indian time ones for my next dress.

jingle jingle...
Of all the brands of jingles, Cope lids would be my fave. I found the Redwoods tarnished the fastest. Gives an old-time look I suppose. I even have some cones made from special 1976 Bicentennial U.S. Tobacco lids. Those are really dark in color but I like 'em. Missouri River is good too, especially the gold ones. Have not tried McPherson and probably won't after several people said they did not like them. I will also use aluminum roof flashing when I want a lightweight dress with smooth, plain cones.

I have not seen cope lids in forever.
Mcpherson's I won't use. Redwoods are quite available for us, so that is what we use.

I have a buttload of copes but I don't have any tin snips. I'm kinda looking forward to that lol. I managed to get my hands on some gold ones.... not enough to cover muh butt but lol guess the silver ones will have to do.
![]() I have some plain ones without anything on em. I've had the left overs for bout seven years. It's about time I do something with em. I like to turn mine medium width. I don't like em too big. There's a certain sound I like to hear..... hard to explain but feels goot. lol

Did they stop making the Copenagan lids in the silver at some point? I heard they make only plastic lids now.
True? or False?
