I like to watch the footworkings of the jinglers.
I find the western powwows tend to fancy more the contemporary jinglers. But the old style is making it's way more and more lately as well.

I notice ALOT of Fancy Shawl steps being used. I dont agree with that.. in my own opinion. If you are a fancy dancer... than fancy dance i dont think you should be using those steps for jingle.
One other thing i've noticed, well up here in alberta anyway... is when there is a special for jingle (old or contemp style) the fancy dancers will change into a jingle dress JUST TO COMPETE in the special!! I personally find that disgraceful its like double dipping! |

I know i say i like old style jingle... but i like the footwork of jinglers... the toe heel moves... where they look like they kind of glide... i like when they make the half turns n zig zags.. (but not spinning in a complete circle) but not hte kind of foot work where it looks like you could throw a shawl on them and they'd be the womens fancy dancers in my head i know what i'm seeing!! ha ha i just don't think i can describe it..

yeah ummm its a SPECIAL, whats so bad about that?...
I know what u mean tho, the ones that KICK and spin and jump all kindsa craziness. it doesnt look even slightly lady like or graceful. I have a vid and someone was like "whats with the moonwalk?"... I'm FROM out west, so in my head I was like what planet are u on? :-P altho, the lady doin it was really smooth and graceful about it. one thing I think is that we cant ALL dance the SAME ya know? but I like those ladies who seem to be in total control of their bodies, each and every movement.

There is nice footwork with the steps kept on the small side, (like Jackie Klein), I love her footwork, she keeps her steps smaller and not so high just very graceful. Then there are others who should have a shawl on, like shawlin says. This also goes for side steps.
