Dreaming about your dress!?

So I was just wondering if anyone has actually ever had a dream about their next dress. So I have been stationed over here in Japan for a little over 2 1/2 years. Since then I haven't been able to dance (not too many natives here in Japan) annnnd it's killin me! Well since I have been here I had my son last october and I KNOW now that my dress isn't going to fit me when I get home. So lately I have been thinking about a new dress and last night I actually had a dream about it. It was so real, I could see myself dancing in it . . .I could even hear my jingles shakin, Crazy huh? Just wondering if anyone else had had the same kinda dream, could you actually see it annnnd did you ever really make it!?

Yes these dreams do happen. I am a southern cloth dancer I had the fabric and ribbon I wanted but was not sure of the design. I had a dream about my dress one night that showed me exactly how to design it and where to put all the ribbons. I could see the dress as though it was finished and hanging right infront of me.

While not a jingle dress, I did have a dream many years ago about a blue and yellow fancy shawl outfit. Now, blue and yellow together is not a favorite of mine so I was puzzled about that combination. Funny thing is, I did eventually make an outfit which was aqua and orangey-yellow. I guess that counts! But for jingle dresses, I make so many of them that I can't dream them all up although I do have quite the imagination at times, lol!

My Mamma had the dream about one of my daughters dancing jingle. My other two had their own dreams. Those 2 daughters did not see the dress, but knew through the sounds it was there. In my listenings to other Anishnabe Ikwe sharing their dreams, a lot of the times, they cannot see the details of a dress, but they hear the dress, they know it is there. In those cases, it is up to the woman as to the colour and design etc. :)

I hardly ever dream. I sleep and snore way too hard. ayee.

Years ago I dreamed about the dress a few times, but didn't see them. There was lotsa Mindy's in my a few dreams. 'Nother time I was dancing in a circle with a goot friend of mine and there also was a mindy in there. Just the 3 of us but again, I could hear the cones, but could not see it. 'Nother one, I was saasaakwe'in with 4 Mindys but still could not see my dress. These dreams were years ago.

I wished I could have seen what them dresses looked like. Geez. I got severely ripped off ennit.

Dreaming

The whole thing that got me interested in jingle dancing was a dream.. before I even knew what a jingle dress dance was! In my dream a very old woman was there and asked me to dance for her, and I kept having broken dreams later about a blue and white dress, so i figured my first dress should be blues white and sliver!!

Dreams are an individual thing. Some people dream alot, and there are some that hardly ever dream, like me. LOL. I don't know I think I sleep way too hard. I'd be in big trouble if ever a fire started.
