New Full Circle Video

At National PowWow 12, Full Circle Video premiered their latest video which is on the Jingle Dress. It is supposed to offically be released in the beginning of August.

Just thought you'd like to know.

I previewed that video and it is nicely done. The video covers the history of the dress and how it has evolved over time and shows how the jingle cones are made and how they are attached to a dress. Dance style is described and we get to see some dancers in action. The video gets a 2 thumbs up from me! I heard that a video on Fancy Shawl dance will be made next.;)

I believe the title is Jingle Dress

I ordered mine through Written Hertiage, but I think you can order through Crazy Crow or through Full Circle Video itself.

The tape was good. Goes from the original brown dresses with cones made out of tin cans to today. How it has changed and why. They go into both the change in outfits and steps.

I didnt like the tape that much. I saw it. They did talk about the history but I was kinda disappointed that the people that where telling the story werent Native or they didnt appear to be. Everyone that had told the story was married into a particular tribe. I dont think that is necessarily a bad thing but, I was disappointed that there wasnt an Ojiway elder telling the story since that is where the dance came from. I dont discourage anyone from getting it, I guess it is for people who dont know anything about the history, dance, outfit, or steps. I also think that they should have showed more steps and had more dancers on there. Oh well, it worked out o.k. I dont think I will buy it though.
