I like Northern Cree, Blackfoot Confederacy, Rattling Thunder, and Little Otter. I love dancing to those beats.

Northern Cree has this crazy-fast side step called "Squaw Dance Song" look it up, it's hot! If that doesn't keep you in shape, I don't know what will!

I also like Blackfoot Confederacy (Niitsitapi representin!) and Eyabay
.

During the off season I still favour my Ojib brothers out there. Cuz to me, aint no one can sing our side step songs like them. lol.
Little Otter, Whitefish Bay, Eyabay, Northern Wind, Pipestone and of course Bear Creek for a more contemp sound too! All is goot.

As a singer, I like the older sidesteps. Whitefish is pretty darn good - and of course you got your local traditional drums - always in style!

I was just reading "Ojibwe Hymn Sigers" and spotted at least two old double beaters in there that got transferred into church Hymns. On the same day I saw how some people think that the ark of the covenant (which held original instructions for life) was a drum. I guess since the double beat is supposed to be our oldest beat, then those songs must have the original instructions for life in them, yah?

Funny how stuff goes sometimes.

The ark of the covenent was where the 10 commandments given to Moses from The Almighty were kept. I've never heard that it was believed to be a drum but that's an interesting thought... From the description in the old testament it would have been SOME DRUM!!!
