I think its never too late. Get in shape and get out there. You'll do fine.
We seen a 58 year old jingle dancer at SCIC pow-wow. Also, Marny still dances jingle in golden age. Go for it! |

My response is like the rest, exercise, practice, get your stuff together and DANCE!!! There are always people who try to tell others what they can and cannot do, and ONLY YOU, know what's in your heart.

I re-started dancing when I was 48. I wasted too many years being a country/western drummer and an active alcoholic. Now I dance because I get great pleasure, exercise and feedback from my people. It's truely never too late.

I hope to be a lil ol' silver haired chocolate woman dancing jingle when I'm in my 80's. If I'm blessed with that many years I mean. That would rock. Not to mention it makes me feel good to see older ladies dancing. Real good. It gives me something else to look forward to.

I enjoy coming to powwows.com to read encouraging and supportive words like these. It makes me truly happy to know it is never too late to start dancing. Just as one person who replied I too was actively involved in partying and drinking to do much of anything. But since I have been on the Red Road I can't wait to begin where I had left off. Thank you for all the kind words because I feel as tho you are also speaking to me...

Dancing is in our genes. It's like riding a bike...you never forget how. I too plan to be a gray haired jingle dancer some day.

I believe it pleases the Great Spirit when we dance with pure hearts. Whether you start as a 5 year old tiny tot or a 60 year old golden ager, if you come into the arena with good intentions, you will always leave with a clear mind and a happy spirit.

I don't think it's ever too late. I just started grass dancing about two months ago. I completed my outfit the day before the pow wow two weeks ago and i was extremely nervous. Throughout the whole weekend i thought that i was making a fool of myself because everyone else seemed like pros or something, but at end, i found out i placed 3rd. That was a boost of confidence. Never think it's too late to start dancing. Just know in your heart that it's what you want to do.
