How was everyone's easter weekend? Hoping all was good and wishing you all a happy upcoming spring.

Not to go into too much detail, but do any of you jingle dress dancers have spring ceremonies? Feasts?

lol well off topic of the jingle. i am starting my son's dress here very soon.

i am running things around in my head about a day planner book. i had started one years ago....you know how that goes.
anyway, some strange stuff went down, and i lost all forward motion with that piece. i really want a cover, so i am going to start another.

my sister and i are starting her daughters first lil dress, we just have to check on the colors.

my daughter is planning the colors for her dress, and she will start hers prolly next month. i taught her the same way i was, you even make your own shirt. lol, her first one was a lil off, but she was so proud of it.

she was thinking of jingle this year, but not yet.

knocked off a couple barrettes, cause i need some cash.

ummm, that is about it for me right now.

Just got done with the patterns for the applique on my jingle dress and the rough sketches for it. Now I just gotta find the extra money to buy the material and jingles...anyone need beadwork? LOL

At the Mount Pleasant spring powwow, the committee had a Jingle Dress special held in honouring the "earth hour". I was happy to be a part of that dance. The lights in the dance area were turned off and we danced/prayed for mother earth and in hope that more and more people will take a stand against global warming...for communities and individuals to make those simple changes that will collectively make a difference like turning off our appliances and our lights when not needed.

So if this is your last reply to powwows.com for the night, please turn off your computer.

Springtime has arrived. Finally, after what seems like a long six months of ice and snow, we can see the grass here in my neck of the woods. Spring time is a special season as we believe mother earth is awakening and bringing forth the warmth, the buds and flowers and birds, etc.

Do any of you do anything special with your dresses this time of year?

I am asking all you jingle dress dancers to remember the Cree people of Fort Albany and Kasechewan and Attiwapiskat...in northern Ontario. Their communities are dealing with heavy flooding and evacuations. Elders have been flown to our town, where the Friendship Centre is the lead Native organization to coordinate medical services, identification, etc etc etc. Please remember them in your prayers, and while you dance that the Creator look after them and keep them all safe...elders, families, children and babies. A very scary time for them all.

Hey how's it going? I've been gone for a bit. Had a long semester and took a quick vacation now I'm back on the grind. I'm going to work on a few things (some sewing and some beadwork) lol Hopefully it goes well.

I'm working on one of my daughter's stuff right now, beadwork and a new dress. Lots been happening as of late, but I still manage to get a few stitches in here and there. LOL.

Of course, "Mama's" stuff always waits until their's is done.

I know I am a new dancer here, but I wanted to share my positive thoughts with the fellow dancers, families, and people through out the world. I have been praying for my dress and for other dancers. I have been made witness to the power of prayer over the last year and it has really helped me through hard times. I will keep you all in my prayers through out my days and I hope you do the same for me! Thank you! ~amy~
