hi all. im 15 and come from an nontraditional family. and i want to become a jingle dancer in 2 years. but i have watched videos that have been posted, and try to teach myself, i really want to learn how, does anyone got any pointers, that would like to help? thanks, dawn

the best way of learning is just from watching others at powwows...and asking questions you might even get one of them to teach you if you ask.
not all dancers dance alike so there is no right or wrong way persay..

jingle dancing takes tons of practice and eventually you will develope your own style but that will come to you from your heart...when you dance you should be dancing from your heart...many of us dont think when we dance ...we just get out there and dance...ask yourself this question...why do you want to become a jingle dancer? from there you can decide whether your a tradish or contemp.

if its tradish, then you have to go talk to a elder jingle dancer and ask her how to become a jingle dancer the right way and she'll help you all she can.

also you will need someone to help you make a jingle dress so the best way about it is ask your mom to help you make your dress, also look under past threads on here for help areas in making your jingle dress...theres threads on things like how to make a jingle dress, etc...

I think that musicedu77 is right on the money. Don't start this dance without talking to some more experienced dancers the step is pretty specific with this one. Good luck and I hope to see ya on the trail.
