For those that know what that means :) I also make our own regalia, shawls, etc. When my daughter tiny tot danced my mom & auntie made her a jingle outfit. When she turned 5 she wanted to dance Fancy Shawl because she had a dream and vision, we sat down and drew out her vision and made her Fancy Shawl dance regalia, it took some hunting to find the colors and patterns for some applique work and details, we had a give away, etc. She danced for 2 years with that regalia and my mom died and my auntie died in the same year and we went into mourning. We are out of mourning now and have been for about a year.

My now 9 year old has had a dream that her Granma came to her and asked her to Jingle Dance again for her and Auntie. I am now the Matriarchal Elder of my family and have no family to ask for guidance, so what do I do? I have been in prayer and still am, I watch and listen. She wants to be traditional like Granma asked her to be. She knows already from Fancy Shawl that she has to find someone she admires and learn from her.

I am at the regalia making end (woohoo!) a new adventure, I'm up for. What kind of material is cooler-we're in Cali and it's hot! How do I keep her VERY think hair smooth and in braids good, I don't wanna be rebraiding or dealing with sticky moose again, just plain water doesn't work well, I heard about hair butter?

Thanks for any direction or help I can get would be great, not just with the hair, but the whole!
