What is the most breathable fabric?

What is the most breathable fabric? I am looking to also make a jingle dress for the summer and where I will be living at in Cali. it's pretty warm so I need something that I won't roast much in.

Cotton but be sure to get a fabric that doesn't wrinkle too much.

My mom and I just made a nice one out of calico. It feels pretty good so far.

So thinking about this more, I'd assuming in Cali the big thing will be the material PLUS what color it is, because being sunny and all, dark colors will attract the sun!

Calico is probably going to be cotton or maybe cotton/poly. Mayche, have you made a dress where the jingles were attached to cotton broadcloth? It seems like it might be too thin, at least the broadcloth here @ Joanns is sometimes almost see thru.

Basically if you're going for maximum cool :), avoid synthetics which is going to be polyester, shiny/glittery fabrics like confetti dot, fabrics with metallic thread running through them, that Asian fabric, etc. Also I think like I said that light colors would be better than say black. Good luck with your dress and have fun!

Definitely 100% cotton is most breathable.
Quilting cotton works well and is not too thin.
Wrinkling is not a huge problem since the weight of the jingles pretty much keeps that from happening.
A lot of today's "old-style" dresses are made of simple calico prints.

Actually my first jingle dress was a green sequined material w/green broadcloth as a lining and it still has all the original cones on it. I wore that dress year round and it was never too hot for me.

Oh lol. I helped a friend make a jingle dress with a broadcloth skirt and all of her jingles are on the skirt. I'd say it's a good material to use if you take care of it and double it up.

so the consensus is cotton or is it cotton/poly? and calico...i might even try calico. I'm just tired of sweating in a material during the summers and then its like eww and i have to switch dresses.
