Jingle Dress Special

Why do people host Jingle Dress specials or any special in general and what steps do you have to take in order to host the special? Thanks.

tlcop,

Specials are held to honor someone, a tribe or an organization.

To have a special:

Pick a category and the prizes (Money, Horse, Jackets, etc)
Pick a powwow
Inform the committee
Work toward raising the prize money and supplimental prizes.

On the day of the special:

Have the payout ready.
Have someone to voice for you.
Have a drum readt to sing for you.
Have giveaway items ready.
Pick your judges

and do it!

Thanks

Thanks so much Whome!

I've asked so many people, but the people that I've asked made it sound so difficult. Thanks

Tlcopena

Also, I know I would have to pick judges, but how do the judging sheets look like. I know I could make my own, but should there be a certain outline I should follow? Thanks

Tlc,

The majority of the dance specials that I have been involved with as a contestant or judge, have hand picked their winners.

Each judge goes out to pick a contestant. The winner is chosen by the majority decision of all the judges.

If you want to make a judging sheet, simply number each one 1 (for first place - worth 3 points), 2 (for second place - worth 2 points) and 3 for (third place - worth 1 point) If there are more places or consolation places then they would also be on the tabulation sheet.

With tabulation sheets, the contestants with the highest accumulative points would win!

I hope this helps.
