I have a few questions. I dance jingle and I'm wondering, if you don't have enough eagle feathers to make a fan, would the fan I have would work? I attached a picture of it. The feathers are blue maccaw and american parrot. It is a beautiful fan and it was a gift to me. I live in a white society, so it is really hard to get eagle feathers, so I don't have much to choose from. What do you think?

very pretty fan!
I have seen fans made of these feathers and they turn out real nice, if you are enrolled you may be able to send away for feathers of your own wither it be parts or a whole bird prviding you are of age to do so it does not not matter where you live.

That's the thing, I'm not enrolled, and I am of age. My mom doesn't think it is necessary, she says "We know who we are and that's enough". Anyways, but I really like the fan, so I guess I'll deal with it until I get enough feathers. Thanks for replying.

I don't know how long you have been dancing, but I know when I first started, I didn't have a fan. After a couple of years, I was given a macaw fan. I treated it like it was eagle feathers and prayed for enough feathers so I could have a fan. A couple of more years passed. Just as I had enough eagle feathers to make a new fan, one of my family members gifted me an eagle fan.
Just keep dancing...treate your dress with respect...someday you'll have enough feathers to have your eagle fan...it usually shows up when you least expect it!

I agree it is your choice. I know that south american natives hold the macaw feathers really high almost like eagle feathers to a american indian. It is your choice to dance with what you would like as long as you respect yourself and your elders who danced before you, then it doesn't matter what you chose for you regalia acessories. Peace and dance on sista soldier!
