Well, I work out religiously, everyday except Sunday (fitness center is closed). I have found that jump rope, runnimg and any other cardio exercise will do the BEST! No joke, after I had my baby I started to run and could only run for about half a mile and felt like I was going to die(LOL), but after a couple weeks it gets easier. My second baby is now 15 months and I can run for an hour straight (sometimes more), so it defenitly pays off. During contest my first song feels like a warm up and I'm not even breathing hard on my second song. Those are my suggestions, hope they help :)

yup
I can't dance until next year but all my regalia will be brand new. I've been working out 60-90 minutes a day....partly to lose a little weight so I won't look like a jingle ball dancing around but now to get in shape so I can make it through 2 push ups.
Right now, I do the eliptical trainer and the stair machine (where you climb actual stairs)

Jumping Rope and Running
I just added jump rope to my workout routine. I find that it is a big help in strengthening my legs and endurance. I skip for 30 seconds, and walk in one spot for another 30 seconds then alternate, for about 10 minutes. But I plan to increase the amount of skipping time and decrease resting time by each week.
Running is another excellent way to keep in shape and increase endurance. |

Hey. I warm-up (5 min), stretch, weights - upper body, core (mid-section) or lower body; alternating areas and giving a rest of at least 2 days inbetween work outs - [30-50 min], then at least 30 min. cardio (running, stairmaster, tread climber, elliptical or hiking up hills). here's a sample
Monday 5am (i'm a morning person) treadmill - 5 min stretch - 5 min upper body - 35 min various upper body weight training techniques tread-climber - 45 min cool-down - 5 min 90 minutes Here's a few secret - don't just do cardio. You need muscle to have the stamina for dancing. And vary your work-out. I do have a slight grade into my drive way, it lasts for about 1/3 of a mile. I started walking to the bottom and running to the top - that will give your legs and your lungs a work out. I did it three times last night. It worked muscles in a different way - I was a little sore this morning. Hope this helps. |

Shanlyn, yes, i've been accused of being a work-out fanatic. It's a great feeling though. Sometimes it doesn't even matter. A friend of mine got married and we went to her reception. She had old school jams to todays hits and the next day and my legs were sore. Muscles working in a different way. I added different types of leg exercise to see if it helps. yeah, im nuts.
