what are the best quality jingles?

i have only used redwood jingles before. They are really nice, and I am going to put them on my new dress. I was looking around and the person that I normally order from is in the united states and I am in canada...he doesn't ship outside the us for whatever reason...but I don't have any contacts for inside canada. Around here Iroqrafts sells Missouri River brand and they look pretty dull. I have also seen some mcpherson ones which seem comparable but not as nice as the redwoods.

Indian Time...that is by the same supplier in New Jersey...and they look similar just different stamps I think.

What is the difference?

good question!

I am new to sewing jingle dresses. I have used the mcpherson lids, and recently got a hold of the indian time jingles with the floral stamps... really nice. the friend I am making the dresses for tells me that the biggest difference she notices is the sound.

I heard that there are brass jingles available now. has anyone tried those?

mcphersons SUCK. they sound bad and rust and tarnish really fast
i used em on two dresses and hated them.
i love redwoods they have a nice sound.
I haven't used anything else though.

My faves are missouri river....they are kinda rolled small and tight so to get a good noise i open em up a lil more..but they are heavy...for lightness i like those powwow time ones!!!the powwow time ones are nice and cheap too..dang the missouri river jingles are so expensive..it costs me around $80 just to jingle my dress..i use like 4 bags..maybe sometimes i have a feew left over...

What are the kind with the eagle feathers on them? Are those Missouri river ones? Anyways...those are the ones that I always use...they're heavy too...my dresses gotta weigh like over 50 lbs! But I do have a couple dresses with indian time on them too...those are nice! & redwoods too! I used mcphersons on one dress and they were horrible...just like shanlyn said they rusted out & sounded kinda funny. But they were light which was nice

What happened to using coppenhagen lids? Are they just too hard to collect?

Copenhagens are hard to find since they don't sell them from the company anymore. I have about 500 that I've been holding onto for a few years. I also have a girl at work that collects them for me. I personnally like the Redwoods and Silver Creeks. McPhersons's suck. The best place to get already turned jingles has to be that beadin' path store from Fargo/Moorhead.

gotta love them redwoods!!! yeah they are heavy but sound good, not all light and hollow sounding like those cheap ones,( even though I have invested in those for a quick dress I wanted made) but I would have to recommend them)(Redwoods)!!! Its always good to have the hookup with a vendor that u have been buying from for years and years to come!

I'd have to say Missouri River are prob the best altho they are heavy then the Indian times are good and then Redwood but sometimes they tarnish too(redwoods).

i'm going to be making my first jingle dress and i need some help in finding the redwoods jingle cones. i would appreciate it if someone could tell me where to look for them. i usually have the dress made by this one lady but because i'll be graduating, i want to wear a jingle dress that i made myself. thanks.

Steve Eagles sells or used to sell the lids with the rose in the middle with "pow-wow" on the edge. I bought 10,000 a few years ago. I don't know if he even sells them anymore. Now they're stingy lids. I hoard them in my stash of lids with the copenhagen. Indian time turn nice and are pretty light with a nice sound, not too light like McPh. with the clang-clang sound.
