Hey guys,
I am asking for your help,right now I am not dancing jingle b/c of the attitude I got while wearing my dress and so my parents decided to take my dresses until I learn what an ojibwe women should know when she is dancing in that dress for people.I respect their desicion to do what they did, b/c I know now that I wasn't treating that dress right and I should not have been wearing it with the attitude i developed.I know now that I was wrong and I need help to get all the stuff that i need to know about my ppl and our dress.I want to prove to my parents & family that I deserve to wear that dress again and so that I can help another girl if she asks for help like I am doing. I am very sorry if I offended any one but I know my mistakes now and I want the respect of my ppl and when I put my dress on again i want to kow im doing it in the right way.

From what your parents did with your dress, and the teachings for that dress you have. Perhaps you need to consult an ojibway elder on how to use the jingle dress properly. The ojibway jingle dress shouldn't be used to make money at pow wows. In fact it shouldnt even be used for competition period. But... my adivice would be to seek an elder. Many young ojibway women do not use the jingle dress untill they are maturally ready for the commitment. Perhaps that might be the reason too!.. But hopefully I provided some help.

The jingle dress is a medicine dress to help those that need healing. When you dance you are in a sense doctoring those who are sick.... I don't dance in my dress when my circle of being is sick, because I wouldn't be able to help those that are in need of help. I hope this helps a little...
