Newest trend I've seen around here is Jingle Ladies having more than a butt load of plumes!!!
I've seen dancers that look like they have rabbit ears, white walls, huge side drops, and other funny looking displays off their heads. What do you think is appropriate. I had a whole drum crackin' up at one lady's head (literally looked like curved rabbit ears with some lime green fluffs added). Oh, What do you think about people "padding" their plumes with peacock/white fluffs? |

...its kind of like when you begin to develope and you over stuff your bra with tissue/toliet paper....thank god I never did that. But I'm also proud to say I never added to my feathers. I've always been proud of what I've had back in the day and today. |

Depends on the style of jingling one does I guess.
(Old style - no plumes) But I've seen cases where there are too many plumes worn.

In this modern age of "Contesting" I think alot of the "traditional ways" have been changed and modernized in such disrespectful ways. Ladies buckskin has gotten to be the worst! Some of those flashy crowns and diamonds sparkling blind you where you need sunglasses and the beadwork has expanded so its looks like maps of continents, etc. I've always thought the buckskin was the beauty of the dress and the beadwork complimented it. And I agree with the poster, I've seen some plumes that look like a persian cat is sitting on the back of their heads! But contesting has commericalized and everyone wants to look different.

Plumes Plumes Plumes
This past summer, I had one medium-small sized plume and wore it proudly. However, I did feel a bit envious looking at the other jinglers with their larger sets. Then last month, my brother-in-law passed on two fluffy beautiful plumes. I am in awe.
To be honest, I do feel kinda sad on how you need to adjust your plumes, beadwork, outfit to a grander scale....just to be noticed. And I do see some dancers who overdo it. Kinda like what Shrek said "Do you think they are overcompensating for something??" LOL. |

I know what you mean. If Okie is anything like Southern California then there is some bright BLING going on with beadwork. Even when I went to GON 2 years ago, I thought only Hollywood Indians were out this way. Damm was I wrong!! :38: |

JlnBooty: It is a sad day when a "keeping in Fashion Trend" replaces "earned by Tradition and Honor" concerning the bulk adding of eagle plumes (feathers) to ones regalia.

plumes
The plume thing is just way too much. I've seen some people just put way too much. The rest of them look very pretty with the stickers and the little color fluffs at the bottom. My cousin has alot of plumes. She just puts some one every grand entry.
