What ya think bout...

Whats errone think about a jingle dress dancer who goes out an parties at pow wows, gets drunk, and scraps around???? Cuz from my teachings some one like dis shouldn't be wearing that dress. Is it not a healing dress, a medicine dress, at least thats what I was taught! How disrespectful. What do yall think about this topic?

Assuming the jingle dress dancer is an adult, I would say that it don't matter what everyone else thinks, even if they act a fool, cuz that's on them and their own reputation. We're all accountable for our own actions.

Well I am sure we all know it is not proper to do so. But who are we to say. Those that do party and drink and drug will learn eventually, maybe will take some hard knocks and rude awakenings but they will come to realize one day! We just have to remember them in prayer and dance.

Oh my goodness/ there being judged on the outside of the arena too? Do what you want, you and only you pay in the end if you choose to play. Plus the day you compete for money is the day all you traditionalism goes out the window.

They say the same to me and my hubby. We play hard, but thats are choice and when i compete at powwows he welcomes the fact we can play, but not as wild as when we're at the pub with his bud's.

So i'll get the next round when i return back to minnesota! say yeah???

Sometimes, though its not outside of the arena? They show up drunk the next day at the pow wow? Wearing their plumes and carrying their eagle fans...and being intoxicated? Then sometimes when they are asked to leave they won't at all...they just stay...

Yeah, and besides showing up still drunk from partying the night before, and reeking of sex and alcohol, they win the contest! Now how come they can do that and the nice girls who don't go out partying don't get the top spot? Guess the judges were out partying and sexing up too.

I just have to say my 2 cents worth...as Lakota people once you receive that plume..? There are certain things expected from you such as your conduct..and so when you are out doing those things..then why are you even wearing the plumes and carrying eagle feathers..? That is my point and we receive those through ceremony..the tying of a plume is a sacred ceremony so why would you want to disrespect that in front of alot of people. Personally, I wouldn't care but when those people come into that circle which we call the hocoka the circle then what are they bringing and what are we teaching the younger ones that it is okay to be like that? I guess I just don't agree with it, the mixing of alcohol and something sacred..there that is my 2 cents..
